Promising Trouble is looking for a freelance Inclusion Research Producer to support us with designing and implementing inclusive practices in our Community Tech programme.

Deadline for expressions of interest: Tuesday 7 March, 09:00 GMT

Budget and timing

We would like this work to be carried out between April - July. The maximum budget is £14,400 (including VAT if applicable).

We are looking for someone to work 2 days per week at £400 per day.

About Community Tech

Our work on Community Tech started with a small research project in 2021. It has now grown into a programme of significant funding, multi-stranded research, and an emerging community of practice. Community Tech is technology built with, by and for communities, that is locally accountable and creates local value. You can find out much more on our Community Tech website: https://www.communitytech.network/

What we need

The Inclusion Research Producer will design and begin to deliver an inclusion strategy for the Community Tech programme.

The work:

  • Research the current landscape of businesses and individuals within the field and identify which communities we are not currently engaging.

  • Propose a strategy to engage these communities and advise on any barriers to participation in the programme as it stands.

  • Identify individuals and businesses we should be engaging with and build relationships with them.

  • Play a key role in the development and launch of our community of practice in May.

  • Advise on the design of Power to Change’s next round of Community Tech funding and support the dissemination of the call to a diverse network of businesses.

  • Advise on potential strategic partners and co-travellers.

  • Capture the learning in a blog post, or series of blog posts.

About you

We’re looking for expressions of interest from individuals or small teams with expertise in Diversity, Equality and Inclusion and knowledge of how to build inclusive practices at the start of a long term programme and community of practice. You will need to:

  • Apply good practice in community engagement and participation, and keep up to date with emerging practice and innovation in this space.

  • Advise us on how to address barriers to participation in our work, so that anyone who wants to get involved is able to do so.

Ideally you will also have an interest in Community Tech.
